I consider myself passionate about Catan. I am also very proud to think I might have one of the top 50 collections of Catan in the world.
However passion and pride pale into insignificance compared to true dedication. And for me the finest example of true dedication is the "Catan Scenario and Variant Guide" created and maintained by Kelvsyc.
It is for this reason I am very sad to report that after so many years of relying on the guide, Kelvsyc has made what must have been a very difficult decision and put this project on hold. In a blog dated 22 Dec 2021, he states that due to work and other commitments "I’m going to announce that I’m officially putting my gaming adventures on hold as of this moment..."He goes on to say "As of this moment, the historical Catan Guide documents have been taken down, with the rest of the Random Collection to follow in the coming days."
This is truly a great loss to Cataners everywhere and I hope that we see the resource relaunched at some stage in the future. While I have a copy of the PDF file I will personally continue to refer to, I shall not share it on my site out of respect for Kelvsyc and the many days, weeks and months he must have put into this project. I totally accept it is for him to decide whether the guide is online and I will not circumvent his wish to remove the guide by putting a pirate copy on my site.
All I can say is thank you to Kelvsyc and to say that as passionate and as proud as I am of Catan, I have always considered your work and your guide the single best example of a true Catan aficionado. All the best for everything you do moving forward.
