I have been told of a new Catan related item I am keen to find and add to my collection. A Reddit friend from Germany contacted me to ask if I had heard of this promotional set and I had not.
In 2010 the German dairy company Landliebe launched a promotion involving Catan and centred around people collecting various resource cards from specially marked packages. These resources could then be exchanged for prizes. One reference to this game indicated prices ranged from 10 Euro vouchers to Dream Homes. The promotion even had its own web site (click image to see a larger version).
The resources to collect included berry, book, caramel, cinammon, clay, coins, country milk, honey, paper, scales, water, vanilla, wood and wool. The artwork on these resources were custom to the promotion. I think they look amazing (click image below to see larger version).
I thank Tomas for letting me know about this set and so now we are both looking to find copies of the promotional material and resource cards.
